****************
In case you had’t noticed, summer is over. Fall has arrived. The air is cooler, especially in the early morning — but also in the evening, when only a few weeks ago people would wander all over the city in shorts and tank tops. Sunset is well before 7 PM, and the sun has moved noticeably north along the New Jersey skyline.

But the tango dancers are still here – in Riverside Park, in Central Park, at the South Street Seaport, and out at the end of Pier 45, where Christopher Street runs into the Hudson River in the West Village. I had not been here since July, and I didn’t know how much longer it would be before the chill in the air drove all the dancers away. So when I got an email announcing that the weekly event was going to be held again on the final Wednesday evening in September, I decided that it was a good time to dust off my camera (metaphorically speaking) and head downtown again…

As I’ve pointed out in Flickr albums (here, for example), I do not dance the tango (or any other civilized form of dance), and I know little or nothing about the history, the folklore, or even the steps and rhythms of the tango. But after accidentally stumbling upon a local gathering of tango aficionados on a business trip to Washington in the summer of 2009 (see my Flickr set Last tango in Washington), I subsequently learned that there were similar informal events throughout New York City. When I got home, I searched on the Internet and found a schedule of upcoming tango events at several different NYC locations — including Pier 45, where I made my first visit in mid-April, which led to this set of photos.

I returned in mid-July of 2010, even though I knew it would be much hotter … and indeed, it was so hot that the music did not even begin until 6 PM. But then the dancers began to appear, one after another, until there were a couple dozen pairs of dancers filling a large space under a sheltering canopy, as the sun went down. And since it was the end of a hot summer evening, tango wasn’t the only thing going on: there were people sunbathing, watching the boats on the river, playing frisbee, or simply enjoying themselves. I photographed a little of everything; you can see it in this Flickr set.

So now I’ve come back once again … and it may or may not turn out to be the final tango event of the season, at least for me. I have to assume that there will be at least a couple of warm spells during the month of October, for New York is usually blessed with that kind of weather. But my "day job" is keeping me pretty busy at this point, and I’ve got trips coming up to places as diverse as Rochester (NY), Camden (Maine), Rome (the Eternal City), and Miami (North Dakota … heh, just kidding) in the next couple of months. And if I don’t manage to return this fall, I may have to wait until next spring before I see the dancers once again twirling and gliding across the wooden deck of Pier 45.

How To Sell On Ebay Drop Shipping

how to sell on ebay drop shippingHow to do drop shipping business?Could I do drop shipping on dealextreme or buyonme.com?What website could I do drop shipping easily? Is drop shipping safe?Could I earn money by drop shipping?More and More people will ask the above questions.

What is DropshippingDropship is an effective method doing e-commerce. Many business men are now turning their companys to dropshipping companies so they could minimize the stock and cut down shipping costs. The other advantage is that their customers will receive the package sooner. Some biggest dropshipper stores, such as DX or BuyOnMe.com have thousands of dropshipping partners all other the world.

Why drop-ship is an useful business toolIt is very useful for sellers on auction sites, such as eBay. The seller will take a requested order and pay a wholesaler to send out the product directly to the buyer. The seller will pocket the difference between the wholesale and retail price. This can be a great way to make extra cash. With a drop shipping business, your success depends on selling products which are then shipped directly from a manufacturer or wholesaler to your customer. Your profit depends on the difference between the wholesale price and the retail price (what you sell it for).

It’s important to choose suppliers. Also known as suppliers. Choosing suppliers that are in the same country as your intended customers will likely make shipping easier. Use a directory or go directly to some famous source such as DX or Chinavasion or BuyOnMe.com – they are the legitimate suppliers for you.

Use Search Engines to find dropship providerOr you could go to the search engine and search the following keywords:”dropshipping” + product nameFor example, I search “drop shipping ipad matte” to look for some supplier for ipad assessories, I find the first 4 companies are Dropshipaccess.com, focalsale, trait-tech.com and Buyonme.com. Then I click into the 4 websites and compare the prices, found the cheapest one is in buyonme.com. So i regest and account in the website and place an order. Leaving a note to inform the website owner that I want the package dropshipped to my direct customer. Then guys of buyonme.com will ship the package for me.

Tips for dropship business1. As in any business, some risks are involved in dropshipping. For example, back ordering may occur when a seller places a shipment request with a wholesaler, but the product is sold out. Back ordering may be accompanied by a long wait for a shipment while the wholesaler waits for new products, which may reflect badly on the retailer. A good wholesaler will keep retailers updated, but it is the business owner’s job to be aware of the quantities that the wholesaler has available.2. Starting small with only a handful of products is good to test the market and keeps investments low. Once the first revenues are made further expansion can be considered.3. Choose products that have low or no maintenance, and product after sales are reduced to nearly zero, which will reduce the operational costs of the business.4. Other risks when you selling on Ebay: The drop-shipper’s Web site provides you with descriptions and images. Fine. But you and everybody else who sells that item on eBay will have the same photos and descriptive copy. Do yourself a favor and get a sample of your item, take your own pictures, and write your own description. Then at least you have a chance at beating the competitive “sameness” on eBay.

By all means, pack it in another box to avoid damage. Also, the post office no longer likes to send packages wrapped in any kind of paper. They do provide free Priority Mail boxes at their branch locations. A prepaid Priority Mail stamp is minimum $ 4.80.

You’ve started your eBay business and it’s going great. You’ve emptied out your attic, now what do you sell? This book has the answers on how to find the best merchandise to sell on eBay and where to get it. With so many merchants selling the same products, Lujanac and Blacharski offer insider tips on choosing items that will sell as well as how to get the best of those products. Their key idea of starting small and growing into a larger stock is easy to do following their suggestions of where to find great deals on items to sell. By starting locally, one can find many deals right in their neighborhood that will make a great profit.

The information is presented in such a way that anyone can follow these simple guidelines and find their own eBay success without dwindling all of their profits into buying more products to sell. They cover a wide range of venues for purchasing, researching the best sales, as well as other options such as dropshipping. A trap many people fall into is having a large stock of an item that has gone out of style and they are stuck with a basement full of last year’s fad. With the information in this book, this won’t happen as they offer their expertise and guidance to find the best deals on items that will sell again and again. They offer an extensive list of items that are in demand as well as resources on where to get them. For anyone who is ready to continue their business and take it to the next level, this easy-to-follow resource is a must have.

Great book on selling on EBay!, January 16, 2008
    By

Like a lot of others, I’ve bought a number of items on eBay, and occasionally I’ve sold something. I noticed that a lot of the sellers were small-timers (like me), but that others seemed to be making a living with their sales. I’ve wondered how they did it–and where they got their merchandise. This book really clued me in.

It reinforced some of the things that I already knew, and opened my eyes to some possibilities I didn’t know about. I’ve sold stuff from around my house, but I’ve never considered yard sales, local advertising web sites, or thrift shops (suggested by this book), not to mention obtaining items on a larger scale. I’d also never thought about becoming a “trading assistant” (another suggestion that is fully explained in the book). There is much more information in it that I can really see myself using and an extensive directory that would be of use to anyone.

If you’ve ever thought of taking your eBay trading up another level (or more), this is a clearly organized, very useful, comprehensive book. It’s wonderful!

Never run out of sources for merchandise again!, July 16, 2008
    By
Serena “book lover” (San Francisco, CA USA) –

If you are contemplating on starting an eBay business or are looking at expanding an existing one, this book is for you. After reading this book, you will never have to wonder where to find things to sell on eBay. You will still need to do your homework, but this book points you in the right direction.

The authors cover almost all possible areas in which to locate merchandise to sell, from local to international. (I say almost, because they don’t mention about shopping local clearance sales, off-price stores, or merchandise outlets, which is where a lot of eBay sellers I know get their items). I thought I had heard it all, but even I learned a lot about product sourcing. Who knew about the Chatujak Market in Bangkok, Thailand, where you can find the most unusual items you can think of for real cheap?

Not only do the authors reveal where to purchase merchandise, but just as importantly, they give you the strategies on how to get the most out of your product sources. Another great thing is that they help put your eBay business in the proper perspective, by emphasizing how you can compete, even with the big box merchandisers, like WalMart, with great customer service and/or by finding your niche and specializing in it. Every seller, no matter how small, can find a place in the marketplace. It just takes a little more creativity.

My only quibble with this book is the authors’ suggestion to save on shipping costs by forgoing purchasing delivery confirmation when shipping via the US postal service. As an eBay seller myself, I know how important it is to keep your costs down, but not shipping with any type of tracking is actually against eBay rules, and some buyers will insist on getting a tracking number of some sort. The only bad advice in an otherwise fantastic, informative book.

  • You can put it into a free priority mail box. That will give it extra protection. Also, if you print the label from the post office website (www.usps.com), you can get free tracking. A lot of people with eBay will say they never got it and unless it’s insured, you can’t prove they did. The tracking will prove it and save you in the long run.
